Rosanne Aleong, Ph.D

Director of Research, Innovation & Translation, Baycrest

Dr. Aleong is the Director of Research, Innovation & Translation at Baycrest. She received her MSc and PhD in Neurological Sciences from McGill University in 2002 and 2009, respectively. In her current role at Baycrest, she: (1) manages a research support and services hub, supporting clinicians and health care professionals in conducting applied and evaluative research; (2) co-leads the Baycrest Research Training Centre in developing and implementing skill and career development opportunities for research trainees; and (3) implements institution-wide, strategic initiatives including institution-wide funding opportunities, research commercialization projects, as well as national and international stakeholder relations.

Yael Bar

Lab Manager, Dawson Lab; Rotman Research Institute, Baycrest

Yael is a Lab Manager at Dr. Deirdre Dawson’s Lab at Rotman Research Institute. She is involved and coordinates various research studies at the lab. Prior to starting her position at the lab she completed a social Work master’s degree at the University of Toronto. Through her graduate studies Yael gained extensive experience in the fields of gerontology, physical health and mental health.

John Griffiths, PhD

Postdoctoral Fellow, McIntosh Lab; Rotman Research Institute, Baycrest

Dr. Griffiths is a postdoctoral fellow in the McIntosh Lab at the Rotman Research Institute. He has degrees in psychology and cognitive neuroscience from Universities of Cambridge, Warwick, and York, UK, and is an honorary associate of the University of Sydney Center for Complex Systems. His current work focuses on studying brain changes in ageing and neurological disease using a combination of neuroimaging, computational modelling, and theoretical neurobiology.

Jennifer Lee

Administrative Assistant, Rotman Research Institute, Baycrest

Jennifer is an Administrative Assistant at the Rotman Research Institute. In her role, she supports the Research Training Centre, Kunin-Lunenfeld Centre for Applied Research and Evaluation, as well as the Research Innovation, and Commercialization Committee. This will be the second year that Jennifer has played an active role as a sub-committee member in the Innovative Perspectives in Neuroscience conference. She received her BA (Hons) in Sociology and Communications from York University.

Renante Rondida

Graduate student, Ryan Lab; Rotman Research Institute, Baycrest

Renante (Rey) is a graduate student at the RRI, where he uses eyetracking and MEG to study memory. He is passionate about cognitive neuroscience and brain health, and has a keen interest in its applications outside of the laboratory. He is deeply committed to the professional development of his peers, and hopes to help them explore all of their career options.

Jennifer Ryan, PhD

Senior Scientist; Rotman Research Institute, Baycrest

Dr Ryan is a Senior Scientist at the Rotman Research Institute, and holds a Canada Research Chair in Cognitive Neuroscience of Memory. Her research focuses on the nature of representations that are maintained by multiple memory systems and used interactively to guide on-line performance. A converging methodologies approach is used to address questions regarding the type of information maintained in representations formed by working- and long-term memory systems and the role of conscious awareness in the use of such representations in performance. Her research employs reaction time studies, eye movement paradigms and recently, magnetoecephalography (MEG), to examine memory performance of younger and older adults to determine how memory is organized and how it transforms with age and/or brain damage.

Jordana Wynn

Graduate Student, Buchsbaum and Ryan Labs; Rotman Research Institute, Baycrest

Jordana is a PhD student at UofT and at the Rotman Research Institute, co-supervised by Dr. Bradley Buchsbaum and Dr. Jennifer Ryan. Jordana’s research uses eye movement monitoring to explore the relationship between memory and active vision across the adult lifespan. She holds an honours degree in Psychology from McGill University, where she conducted animal research on memory reconsolidation. Outside of the lab, Jordana is a memory of the RRI RTC steering committe, and co-vice president of the UofT Psychology Graduate Students Association.
