Dear PLS experts,

I have two questions about pls ananlysis of resting state(RS) fmri data.
1.How to create a resting state session using block fmri option? How does the block in RS data defined? In Grigg and Grady (2010) paper they just said average 5TR scans, but didn't mention block.
2.My aim is to compare two RS sessions of  10 subjects. Can I just extract seed data directly from RS fmri? As I don't have task related sessions to locate PCC.

Your answer is greately appreciated. Thanks

In the Block fMRI module, you would indicate the TRs for the onset of each "block" of resting state data, and then define the block length. The gui will calculate the average deviation across each block when it makes the datamat.

You would need to extract the data separately, to match your block definition (above). Alternatively, you could run a fake taskPLS analysis, using the same block onsets. Load those results and use the Multiple voxel extraction feature, setting the threshold for the window to show all data. Just click on the region and define the neighborhood size and the results will be saved as a text file.

nlobaugh,

Thanks for you kind reply. I have another question about structral pls analysis. My datasets include cortex thickness of 9 subjects in two conditions(before and after treatment). I 'm going to compare these two datasets and find  correlation to their behavioral scores. When I run the pls analysis matlab gave this "ERROR:  Duplicated permutation orders are used!".

How can I modify my analysis?   Is this type of compare not suitable using pls?

Thanks in advance
