Is there a good resource to learn more about this technique?

Hi..
the first application (to our knowledge) is our paper using the jacobian of the deformation field to examine differences between mouse strains:
Chen, X.J., Kovacevic, N., Lobaugh, N.J., Sled
J.G., Henkelman, R.M., Henderson, J.T. 2006, Neuroanatomical differences between mouse strains as shown by
high-resolution 3D MRI. Neuroimage
29:99-105.
Any voxel-based measure based on structural MRI can be used, some common examples:
1) GM and WM probability/density;
2) these same measures "modulated" by the jacobian derived from a partial non-linear deformation;
3) jacobian or log(jacobian) derived from a full non-linear deformation
